My journey with the possibilities and pitfalls of GenArt
A Video Tour >>
I've been a designer and photographer for over 40 years, My love affair with creating images both genuine and generated really started with National Geographic. I was amazed by the powerful moments captured in those pages, the patience required for the perfect shot, and how it all seemed so far from my reality.
But as AI emerges I have been worried about what will happen to reality based images.I Personally think, AI is going to make trusted publications like Nat geo more valuable.I believe soon, devices will tell us when an image is AI-generated, And AI images that replicate reality, counterfeiting truth will become a commodity and the true actual images will become sought after!
On the other hand, I believe with the right workflow and the evermore controllable AI tools, you can create meaningfull personal imagery that express in totally new ways.
My feeling is, the art of AI is not simply mimicking reality and creating work that can be done by a camera. It will come down to exploring visual possibilities that can ONLY, come from AI, reaching for new juxtapositions of ideas and mediums. Visual relationships that bring external reality closer to your inner reality. Watch Video to the right for more.
My Process
Unique hybrid images with other world dimensionality. Images are built from my original photographs through a unique combination of manual and AI processes. Large fine art prints available of all work represented. Or custom images can be created for use in galleries, home or corporate installations.
This series of images explore how AI with image to image prompting can bend the truth of an original photograph in many directions while still retaining its core essence. These images show a spectrum of possibilities. You will see a vast range of styles from photographic to graphic. I think a unique quality of this process is a blending of mediums and unusual conceptual juxtapositions that bring another level of meaning and visual delight. Dan Marcolina
